PRESSURE SORE RECOVERY: WHAT NOBODY TOLD ME

The guide I wish somebody had given me at the beginning.

Almost six years of pressure sores, infections, hospital stays, surgery and setbacks taught me things I wish somebody had explained from day one.

This practical 24-chapter PDF shares what I learned about pressure relief, nutrition, protein, collagen, infection, surgery, recovery and the difficult reality of preventing another breakdown after a wound has healed.

I WISH SOMEBODY HAD TOLD ME...

  • That a pressure sore could consume years, not weeks.
  • That getting the wound closed wasn't necessarily the end of recovery.
  • That nutrition wasn't simply about “eating healthily.”
  • That getting enough protein matters when the body is trying to rebuild damaged tissue.
  • That pressure and shear are different — and both matter.
  • That infection can completely derail recovery.
  • That surgery wasn't the quick fix I once imagined.
  • That after surgery, tissue beneath apparently healed skin can still need considerable time to strengthen and mature.

And perhaps most importantly...
How much of my recovery depended on what I did every single day.

I learned many of these lessons the hard way. You shouldn't have to.

WHY I WROTE THIS

I've spent almost six years dealing with serious pressure sores.

During that time I've experienced prolonged bed rest, hospital admissions, serious infections, surgery, setbacks and the frustrating reality of wounds that refuse to heal.

Along the way I started asking questions, researching subjects I'd never previously considered and learning just how many different factors can affect recovery.

I'm not a doctor and this isn't medical advice.

I'm the patient.

This guide shares the information, questions, experiences and practical knowledge I wish I'd had when this journey started.

The purpose isn't to tell people what treatment they should have. It is to help people become better informed, ask better questions and have more useful conversations with their doctors, nurses and wound-care specialists.
